PhilosophyWe believe that, as a ministry of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, our primary purpose is to share the love of Christ with others through our words, thoughts, and actions. Caring for your child is a privilege, and we appreciate the opportunity. We believe that as children grow into dynamic members of our society, we have a responsibility to support their development in a variety of ways. Children acquire knowledge through different means, and it is up to us, their teachers, to become aware of these differences and make every effort to meet the needs of diverse learning styles. We believe that children learn through play. Allowing children to create their own learning experiences based on personal interests and existing knowledge will make the classroom a place where learning is fun and non-threatening. By finding a balance between child-initiated and teacher-directed activities, we seek to draw out the investigative and exploratory qualities in each child that will help them build a foundation for lifelong learning. We believe that families are an important factor in the education of each child. We are aware of the differences in family components, values, cultural backgrounds, and parenting styles, and we appreciate the diverse spirit they bring to our program. We believe that a partnership between school and the home is necessary to create a sense of community, and we will make every effort to maintain open, constructive, and accessible communication at all times. We believe that creating a developmentally appropriate environment where play is the basis of learning will provide each child with every opportunity to learn and grow at their own pace. Goals
