I am excited to let everyone know that we are getting very close to paying off the loan for Building God’s House. The response from our congregation has been nothing short of phenomenal.  We will keep you all informed of the progress.
I am also very pleased to report that 2007 has been a very good year financially. Despite some very unexpected, as well as unusual, expenditures in 2007, we have been blessed with our efforts to control non-ministry and non-mission expenditures overall. Thanks to the efforts of our entire staff, these expenditures have been kept at a minimum which has allowed Chapel Hill to be in great shape as we close the year. I want to express my appreciation to the staff for their continuing efforts to minimize these expenditures. We plan on being good stewards of the resources entrusted to us as we reach out in ministry and mission in 2008. I hope you have all gotten to view our first piece of artwork in the Great Hall. I personally have received nothing but compliments on this artwork, and I would again like to thank our “art committee” for their efforts. We would certainly like to continue to add pieces in 2008, and I would welcome your suggestions.
We have many projects and goals for 2008, and we will be sharing these with all of you over the coming months. I am very excited about what 2008 holds in store for Chapel Hill. Should you have ideas for projects or something that could improve our facilities or programs, please let me know.
Don’t forget that our 2008 Stewardship Campaign will commence during the first week of January and will culminate with Consecration Sunday on February 10 with our guest speaker, Bishop Robert Hayes, Jr. This should be a very exciting Sunday for Chapel Hill as we finalize our 2008 budget.
2008 promises to be a challenging and exciting time for all of us at Chapel Hill, and I for one am eager to see what unfolds. I feel so confident about the future of Chapel Hill, and I am very happy and grateful to be a part of this wonderful congregation.
Thanks to all of you for your support in 2007. Because of your participation and efforts, we can truly say that 2007 was a successful and prosperous year for all of us.
